Help your students become global citizens and discover the ancient art of making caxixi rattles in this 2-part workshop. In this workshop series, students will make their own caxixi rattles, a handheld rattle percussion instrument used in Brazil that originates from Western and Central Africa. Students will learn how rattle instruments are made and the basic physics behind the process. They will each make their own wildly beautiful-looking and sounding instrument.
Important Information:
Two workshops – Total: $375, includes all basic supplies for instrument making and students will learn basic rhythms. In between workshops, the teacher may work with the students to decorate their caxixi. This series can be bundled with a Rhythm Explorations residency.
